Miss Janet Dunsniore, who lias been under trentmept at the Cook Hospital for about a fortnight, following' an unfortunate accident in which she suffered serious burns, is reported to be making good progress towards full recovery. The first official visit to Gisborne of the Director of Education, Mr. T. B. Strong, coincided with the resignation of Mr. Frank Foote, 8.A., 8.5. c., from Lhe position of rector of the Gisborne High School, which lie has held for 19 years, and while addressing the pupils of the school this morning, Mr. Strong took the opportunity to hid farewell To Mr. Foote. “Mr. Foote is leaving at the end of this year,” said the director, ‘‘‘after long and faithful service. You will he sorry to lose him, as the department is sorry to lose any of its best teachers, hut the time comes when one must pass on the torch to someone else to light the way into the future. I should like to join with you and the people of the town in expressing gratitude to one who has served this school long and faithfully, and it gives me great pleasure to pay this tribute of praise to the great work Mr. Foote lias done.” The attention of members of the Gisborne Swimming Club is drawn to the advertisement advising of the annual meeting, to he held in Le Grand Lounge to-night.
