WAIAPU REP. AVERAGES W. OATES HEADS BOTH LISTS (Herald Correspondent.) ! n the averages of the Waiapu Cricket Association’s reprefientative players, recently made available, W. Oates headed both the batting and the bowling list, with an average of 19.5 runs per innings, and 12.2 runs per wicket. F. Jackson stood second in the batting list, with 18.5 runs, and M. Gilmore, the ex-Aucklander, with an average of 14.7, stood next to W. Oates in the bowling. The averages of the Waiapu representative players are based on’ two district games, the highest'score made for Waiapu during the season lacing W. Oates’ 35, though this was -only Wo runs ahead of 7*'. Wickens’ best strike. F. Wickens’ average was 16,5 in the batting list. On the bowling side, W. Oates’ average of 12.2 was established on a basis of 11 wickets taken in representative games; in three innings he bowled 24 overs, and conceded 135 runs. Gilmore bowled in two innings, his overs numbering 27, and the runs scored against him 59, this ljowler talking four wickets in the course of the two innings. Trevethick was lower in the scale of bowling averages, but he was a decidedly useful member of the attack, for lie took nine vtickets in three innings, at a cost of 15.3 runs apiece.
