SHOT IN THE BACK
UNDERWORLD AFFRAY TWO MIT INJURED SYDNEY, April 17. A shooting affray, for which members' of the underworld are believed to be responsible, occurred to-night at Woolloomooloo. Walter Williamson, 35, being shot in the back. His condition is critical. Charles Bourke, 20, was also shot in the back, but may recover.
The police are unable to obtain any information of their assailants.
Williamson, although dying, refus* ed to make any statement. Bourke declared he was unaware of how or by whom he was shot.
The police ascertained that the shooting, 'which created a sensation in the slums, occurred in Palmer street, although the victims denied it. They also denied that they are intimate friends, which the police assert they are. Bourke was sitting in a taxicab when he was Avounded.
