The Standard Oil Co. expects to la visited by the .Australian Minister for Customs, Mr. Ken Inn, to-day in connec lion with the possibility of applying ihr liquefaction of coal process to Austral ian deposits. This pro ess. it is pointed out. would Save a special significance for a country like Australia, which has abundant coal but no wells of oil. It is pointed out that the eoiupain was impressed by the quality of Aus Indian coal for this purpose. Brown coal, such as was found lit Yallourn. in Victoria, was more suitable than the Mew South Wales bituminous coals, ant 1 Mr. Kenton's discussions would proba'ely refer more parlii ularly to that. Ivperiments had shown dial coals mosi suitable for liquefaction, or hydrogena lion might be expected to yield 50 pei (ent. oil. anil thai 25 per cent, might be calculated as motor spirit.
