BANDIT'S SURPRISE
CHASED BY DETECTIVES NEW YORK, April 7. Sam Rosenblatt at the age of 17 got the shock of his life, Running short of cash he hit upon a plan of usurping tho functions id a genuine highway robber. Selecting his victim with a discretion which would have done credit, to an experienced hand, ho promptly helped himself to £25 which, he considered, was enough for his immediate needs. But then matters did not develop quite to his plan. Two detectives had seen him relieving his unwilling victim, and they promptly indulged in shooting practice, with Sanliiel as the target. Sam. who must be no mean sprinter, started to do even time, and in his progress came to the conclusion that the nearest police station was the safest place from tho hail of bullets. Breathless ho dashed into the house of the law and exclaimed breathlessly to the bewildered officer: "I'm giving myself up. I don't want to bo killed; here's the money." Sain has decided thai, when the authorities are. agreeable he will adopt other methods to "raise the wind."
