UNEMPLOYED TEACHERS
A WELLINGTON COMPLAINT
' SMALLER CLASSES URGED (J-'wi Press Associat'iui.) J WELLINGTON, lust night. At a mooting of the Wellington branch of the Now Zealand Ecluca- , tional Institute, a discussion on tinemployed teachers revealed that there are in Wellington : 0-1 unemployed teachers, exclusive of those who are in temporary employment as relieving ' teachers, that classes in Wellington tended to be larger even than formerly, and that the number of additional assistants appointed to meet such conditions was this year 15, as i compared with "1 in June of last year.
In view of these facts it was resolved, "That in the opinion of this meeting it is obligatory upon the Government to find employment for the large number of teachers it has trained anil then left with nothing to do; that employment for these teachers should be found as additional assistants; and that . the unduly large classes, in our bigger .schools make urgent the appointment of a far greater number, of additional assistants than the number of unemployed teachers would provide."
