MISSING GENERAL
FIRST REAL CLUE MYSTERIOUS MOTOR CAR PAULS, Feb. 8. The first important piece of evidence in the complicated search for General Koutepoff, the missing White Russian leader, has been provided by an hotelkeeper at Chateau Renard. 70 miles south of Paris. A mud-covered limousine corresponding to that used stopped outside the hotel. The chauffeur, who was fatigued, entered and asked for a double glass of rum. It was noticed that three men were crouching inside the car and particular attention was paid to a large sack bulky enough to contain a body lying beside the chauffeur's feet, Shortly after its departure, a red taxi passed at a great speed. The police believe the body may have been en route for disposal* in the marsh lakes at Melleroy, towards which the chauffeur asked direction.
