COMING, INVESTIGATIONPARLIAMENTARY .COMMITTEE (Special to the Herald.' AUCKLAND, this day. The Select Committee appointed by Parliament to consider means of increasing the efficiency of, and the development of certain secondary industries will not commence its deliberations until after the new year. A statement to this effect was made by Mr. A. Harris, M.P., who is a member of the committee. Other members are the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe; and Messrs. 11. it. Jenkins, and D. G. Sullivan, M’s.P.
The order of reference which the committee will follow has not been made available, hut it is known that investigations will he made into the coach and motor bodybuilding industry, engineering, hlacksmithing, rope and twine works, fruit preserving and jam making, and woollen mills and clothing. A request has also been made that the scope of the inquiry be widened to include the New Zealand footwear industry. Local, members of the committee have not yet been advised in which centre the deliberations will commence. It will ho necessary/ however, to visit a great many cities and towns in both islands.
