LATE SHIPPING
The C. and- J). Line motor-ship Port GisbOrne is now due here from Napier on August 21. An extensive overhaul and rent is to bo given to the Union Oo.'s intercolonial passenger steamer Marama. in dock in Auckland. The vessel has arrived from Sydney, and after her cargo has been discharged she will be withdrawn from the' service. The work of overhauling the Marama will occupy two months, UIU I she is not scheduled to resume running until October 11. Tins will bo Hid first time the Union Co. has had an intercolonial passenger steamer overhauled in Auckland, and the work will give employment to a considerable number of engineers, boilermakers, .litters, carpenters, painters, and laborers. At one time nearly all the Union Co.'s steamers were overhauled at I'lirt Chalmers, but after the company moved ils headquarters to Wellington the work was distributed among various ports.
