NEW CANCER TREATMENT CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM CAPETOWN, August 7. Dr. Monckton Copeman, of the Britiflh Cancer Research Committee, in an interview to-day, said: "The new Flnorosciri treatment of cancer jitstifiec cautious optimism, the result so far being most encouraging. ' 'Hie treatment involves the use of a dye suhstnirce, known as activated Fluorescm, the method being to treat the patient with this substance, then giving very gradual dorses of X-ray and radium, with the result that wave lengths between the ultra violet and the X-ray are prodnced, which bum away the cancerous growth as soon as they make colli net." The treatment, ho said, prolongs life and alleviates pain
