ANGLICAN CHURCH

, MEETING OF BISHOPS All Ihe Anglican bishops of the province of New Zealand will l>e in Wellington during the present week on matters connected with the Church. The Primate, Dr. W. A. Averill, Ms arrived' from Auckland, and most of the other members of the bench of Bishops, including the Bishop of Polynesia, the Rt. Rev. Mr Kempthorne, were expected yesterday. The annual meeting of' the Board of Missions is lo he held to-day, and on Thursday the Standing Committee of General Synod—the executive of the Anglican Church—will assemble for its annual meeting. To-night a mission service will be held in St. Mark's Church. The preacher will be the Bishop of Aotcaroa, the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, and nil the other bishops will take part. It is expected that the GovernorGeneral, Sir Charles I'Vrgusson, and Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson will attend the service.

As the Bishop of Waiapti, Dr. Sedgewick, has announced his intention to retire at the end of the year, this will probably be the last occasion on which the bishop will take his seat as a member of the standing committee. The Synod of Waiapti will be held some time in October, and at the Synod steps will be taken to elect the bishop s successor. This will avoid the necessity of culling Synod together again when the bishop goes out of office— Dominion.
