G.B.A. ANNUAL MEETING PROSPECTS OP REVIVAL Good prospects for tho forthcoming tournament were commented upon by the chairman of tho Gisborne Boxing Association executive, Mr. B. H. Aislabie, who presided at the annual meeting of the association, held last evening. Mr. Aislabie > reported that tho amateurs were training well, and fall use had been made of the trainingroom provided for them. While the bouts stiil had to be definitely fixed, there was every likelihood that tho programme would be an outstanding one. Concerning tho position of the association/ Mr. Aislabie was able to point out that the year had shown a profit, despite the fact that no tournament had been held, the hiring out of the association’s plant having produced a small revenue. The meeting was well attended, and in addition to many enthusiasts who for a number of years have given their faithful services' to the maintenance of the sport, there were several who were making their first appearance at the annual meeting of the Gisborne association. This fact was commented upon by the chairman m his opening remarks, ;\ir. Aislabie stating that it was a welcome sight to the old hands to have this new dispiiay of enthusiasm. The balance-sheet, stated Mr. Aislabie, would indicate (hat the association was in a fairly good position financially, for the luring out of the chairs, which the secretary had overseen, had yielded £l4 10s, a sum which had morn than covered (heir current ex Houses The association had been unable to arrange any lights during tlie past year, though several matches had been spoken of. A special effort was made to match Johnnie Reekie with the local boxer, Liu Robin son, featherweight champion, but after the negotiations had progressed a certain distance they broke down, as Reekie had made'his arrangements for fights elsewhere and could not come to Gisborne on the date suggested by the association. Other prominent boxers had been approached, but all had been unable to fit in a fight in Gisborne with the programmes they had already arranged.

In the statement of accounts, it Avas shown that tho expenses of the year had been small, the printing and advertising, insurance, donations, and sundry expenses amounting in all to about £8 leaving a balance in the profit and iuss account of £6. The balance-sheet showed the assets of the association to be : Cash at hank £22 18s, cash in hand 25, plant and fittings £209, Memorial Cup £55, and sundry debtors £9 10s, while the liabilities included accumulated funds £299 7s 6d. and a small liability on the championship' account. The executive was complimented upon the condition of the association’s finance, and the balance-sheet was adopted by a unanimous vole. Officers for the ensuing year were appointed* as under: Patron, Mr. W. Lis sant Clayton; president, Mr. B. 11. Aislabie; vice-presidents, Messrs. L’. Shcrratt and F. W. Nolan; committee, J.)r. 11. Goulding Rice and Messrs. 11. P. Hamilton, S. Bardwcil,. A, S. Parker, VY. B. Edwards, T. Simile, R. Humphreys, A. H. Rice, G. Clayton, E. C. Fox, J. Murphy, L. Wrightiion. secretary, Mr. O. G. Home; lion, treasurer, Mr. Li. P. Hamilton; hen. auditor, Mr. H. K. Maude; lion, surgeons, Drs. J. C. Collins, W. A. Bowie, and 11. Colliding Rice. Discussion of the forthcoming tournament was spirited, and considerable interest was shown. The chairman stated that Avliile the bouts had still to be fixed definitely Hie committee had drawn up the following schedule of amateur contests tentatively: Buckingham v. I’itziii.'iiirii'i-'. Roderick A r . bimpson, Karim v. Costello, Gordon (Napier) v. W. Robertson, Robinson v. Gregory, Wright v. McConnell. M. Brown v. n Wliatatulii heavyweight, and other matches in which Quirk arid Ancoll would be given suitable opponents. In addition to these, them was the prospect of further amateur bouts being arranged as the interest appeared to warrant it. Votes of thanks Avere tendered to the chairman, the. executive, and other officers who had carried on (lie business of the association during the -past year, .and the press was also thanked for it be interest which it had shown in supporting the manly art, At a Inter meeting of the committee.
