SHEEP DOG TRIALS
WAINGAKE MEET CONCLUDES ! Tho best meeting in the history of the club was concluded, by the Waingake Sheep Dog Trial Club on Saturday, the last class of the programme, the zigzag i huntaway, being won by C. DeLautour's ling. The class was well contested, and though the winner had a good margin of points on tho runner-up, the standard of competition was otherwise very even. The result of the final class, and the list of cups and special prizes won during the meeting, are given below: — Class 3, Zig-zag Tlunawny: C. deLnutour's Bag, 40Jpts., I;'L. Woodward's Joe, 37pts., 2; F. P. Caleott's Sharp, 3opts., 3; A. W. Spence's Ben, 35pts., 4. Local prizes were won as follow: L. Woodward 1, A. W. Spence 2, B. King's Joe 3 (323pts). —Cup Winners.— Cups were awarded as follow: Mangapoike Settlers' Cup, for two dogs, one in class 1, and one in class 3: F. Caleott's Skipper and Sharp, 77Jpts. 6. R. Skeet and Co.'s Cup, for champion dog (open): B. King's Waif, 104Jpts. Mr. C. J. Parker's Cup, class 1: B. King's Waif, 43pts. Mrs. Pyko's Cup, class 2: L. Woodward's Luck, 38pts. Mr. A. Mcßac's Cup, class 3: C. deLautour's Bag, 40Jpts. Poverty Bay Stockbrokers' Association 's Cup, for three dogs, one in each class, 1,2, and 3 (open): F. Caleott's Skipper, Dick, and Sharp, noipts. . Mrs. A. W. Spence's Cup,-for three dogs, one each in class 1,2, and 3, but for local competition: B. King's Flirt (32pts), Waif (30pts), Joe (324pts), total 94ipts. Mr. L. Jex-Blake's Silver Cup for bona tide shepherd or drover, one dog in class 1, and two dogs in class 3: B. King, 96pts. Good and Co.'s Cup for champion local dog: B. King's Waif, 104ipts. Special cash prizes and trophies were Avon as follow: — ' £5 5s (Mr. S. K. White), for team scoring most points at meeting: C. Ilvland, 194 points. £3 3s (To Puru Station), for local team scoring most points: B. King, 169 points. .£2 2s (Mr. G. D. Dobson), for maiden competitor and dog scoring most points in class 3: E. Wyke's Snub, 27| points. £2 2s (Mrs. W. W. Smith), for dog scoring most points in classes 2 and 3: P.. King's Waif, 61} points. £1 Is (Mr. A. W. Spence), for best command in class 3: L. Woodward's Joe. £1 Is (Mr. IT. R. Shanks), for best stylo at ring in class one, local: L. Wood ward's "Bluff. £1 Is (Mrs. S. K. White), for fastest head in class 1: A. Read's Ponto. Time, 2min. Bsee. £1 Is (Mr. T. Jex-Blake), for best looking sheep dog: J. MacDonald's Spank. £1 Is (Mr. J. Croon), for dog returning in fastest time, after completing class 3: B. King's Waif. Time, fiosec. £1 Is (Mr. T. Sisterson), for dog requiring least direction in class 1: W. O'Connor's Glen. Gold medal, valued £2 2s (Nasmith and Son), for competitor under 21 scoring highest points in classes 1 and 3: E. Wyke's Snub, 27 \ points out of 45. £1 Is (club prize) for competitor under 21, showing best style of working dog: P. O'Connor. Bridle, valued £1 Is (Primrose and Leslie), for best work at yard in class 2: O. liyland. 10s fid (club prize), for noisiest dog in class 3: J. Sinton's Mack.
