LONG-DISTANCE FLIERS A CHANGE IN ROUTE (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.' LONDON, November 17. There is no news of any kind of Captain Mcintosh and Bert Hinkler since they disappeared from IJpavon. According to last-minute advice received by the Air Ministry, the airmen intended following the great circle route via Berlin, Warsaw, Odessa, Afghanistan and across the Himalayas, which is entirely a new route to India. Ihey would' thus pass over great tracts of country uninhabited, except by possibly hostile tribes, and hill ground unsuitable for landing. At dawn to-day they expected to climb the high pass over the dangerous Himalayas and enter India. Tl|ey carried sufficient petrol to last till noon on Thursday. Clouds of mist and rain are reported to be preventing observers sighting the plane.
