SENIOR TOURNEY WON BY GAMBRILL FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND. On very last, but. rather bumpy greens the first qualifying rounds for the senior and junior championships were played on the Rovery Bay golf links on Saturday. . After some sound golf R. E. Gambrill won the senior final from A. J. Dixon by '1 and 6. Gam brill, starting at the Bth, won the hole in' 4 to s 5, both taking 3 putts at the next, a half resulting. Uambrill Avon the 10th in 5, with Dixon winning the next similarly. The next two went to (Jambrill, with 4 to 5 at the the 12th, while Dixon foilnd the. rough at the 13th. Dixon, laying his next approach dead, won in 6, but lost the next two -to 5 and 6, and made Ins opponent 4 up at the turn. At the 17th Dixon won in three by screwing his putt past a stymie, but Onmbri'.l. at the 18th, became four up again with a three. The first resulted in both taking 7, Dixon laying Gambrill a.. stymie. Dixon wort the' next in 4, but lost a. chance by only' managing a half in six at the 3rd." Gambrill, 3 up and 4 to play, holed a long putt at the 4t'h, scoring a tine two and winning 4 and -6, In the final of the special tournament for seniors, H. D. Chrisp and C. 0. Hansen met, Chrisp conceding three strokes, and after an even contest Hansen won at the 1911).

Aft* the next qualifying found the handicaps Will he changed, and .some II players may fall in the A lists. The B player (jualilying for the senior championship is eligible to compete in that class. The 16 qualifying for the. championships will be those who hand in the best i_ gross score in anv qualifying round; After the results of the qualifying rounds are known the entries of the Hutchinson Clip and Bree, Gup tournaments will he taken. 4 Unqualifying A players may compete for the Hutchinson Gup and unqualifying B players for the Bree Cup, modal scores and not hole-play deciding the latter competition.
