WIRELESS FOR TUG
AN AUCKLAND PROPOSAL (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, tiiis day. A proposal to instal a portable wireless sot on the pilot boat Waitemata at an estimated cost of £IOO Avas made to the Auckland Harbor Board by the harbormaster, Captain Sergeant:. The harbormaster stated that this set would work in conjunction with the King's wharf and Tiri signal stations, and. could bo fitted to the tug To Awahina or the Waitomata. The recommendation was referred to the board in committee. It will be recalled thai:, two years ago the To Awhina was sent to the assistance of the Flora, which was disabled near Cuvier Island, and that the tug-was greatly hampered in its search by not being equipped with a wireless set with which to communicate with the Flora.
