NEW ZEALAND GOLFERS PLAY IN AUSTRALIA (Special to 'ho Herald.) AUCKLAND, (his day. Impressions of the play of members of the. New Zealand golf team in Australia were given by Mr. It. I). Cardiner, a prominent member of Mangakiekie Club, who returned from Sydney by the Mamma, after taking part in several events. He considers that Arthur Duncan's performance in beating Ivo Whitton, the Australian open champion, was most outstanding. During his visit Duncan played Whitton four times, three of the games being friendly ones, and defeated the Australian on each occasion. T. H. Horton played good golf throughout, but it was a pity he suffered from nerves.

" I cannot widerstand the source of the report tj>at L. Quin injured his wrist," Mr. Gardiner added. "He did not injure himself in any way, and except for lapses on the greens, played very good golf.

'" The win of the New Zealand team in the Kirk-Windeyer Cup competition surprised everyone. There were many who thought the team could defeat, many of the States, but few imagined the Victorian team would be beaten. The team went over to capture the cup. and achieved its object."
