AN EASY VICTORY

N.Z. DEFEATS DURHAM VISITORS' GOOD BOWLING (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.! (Received June 21, 1 p.m.) LONDON, dune 20. The two tail-end men, Brooks and Cook, who had made such a determined stand on Saturday, continued their sturdy defence to-day and surprised the New Zealanders by "their spirited play. Cook placed his strokes perfectly, though both the bowling and fielding were most accurate, and' the keen pair added 115 more in IJO minutes, making 195 for the ninth wicket, and very nearly succeeded in saving a follow-on. Cook passed his century and remained unbeaten.

Durham, on going in again, began well, Nichol scoring 56 in a breezy fashion in 30 minutes.

At the tea adjournment only three wickets were down for 83, but. on resuming there was an amazing collapse. Cunningham, who had not taken a wicket in the first innings and had generally been a failure so far, was the principal destroying agent. With Henderson, who only had one over, he wound up the innings in short order. Neither was assisted by the wicket, and Cunningham bowled! with real "devil." The attendance numbered about 500.

Commenting on a story from New Zealand published here, that Dacre is likely to settle in England, the manager, Mr. "Hay, says that he understands the Aucklander has not made any engagement of the sort. Final scores : DURHAM.
