ACCIDENTALLY DROWNED
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this clay. Under instructions from the Minister of Marine, an inquiry was held to-day by the coroner concerning the death of a' fireman, Sidney Veale, who was lost from tho trawler Countess on April 29. Captain Ni'lsson said Veale was emptying ashes over the. side when he was carried over by the weight of the bucket and drowned. Witness thought he must have been struck by the propeller. A little time was lost in launching a lifeboat,, as the cover, which was nailed to the top of the boat, stuck owing to the wood being swollen with water. Tho lifeboat was lanihched in six minutes. No trace of deceased was found. A verdict was returned that deceased was accidentally drowned while emptying an ash can.
