P.B. TROTTING CLUB

WHAT OF THE FUTURE? FACING A DEFICIT Tile Poverty Bay Trotting t lab finished its last year with a deficit, and the members ot the club, at the general meeting to he. held this evening, will he asked to indicate their wishes as to tin? future policy of the club. There is a section ot members which holds that until the transport facilities improve greatly, to allow of easy access to Gisborne on the part, of outside, owners, a single-day meeting cannot be a success. Under the present circumstances, it- is claimed, the club has either to face another loss on an annual trotting meeting,, or forfeit its license. The position is one in which every member of the club should indicate Ins opinion, since without a very definite mandate from the members, the committee cannot enter into any further obligations with regard to finances. On Due previous occasion, the permit lbr the annual trotting meeting was loanid to the Hawke’s Bay Club, and as a result the Poverty Bay Club benefitted to a considerable extent. There can be little justification for retaining the license, however, unless the members anticipate an early improvement in the situation which will enable the club to conduct its meetings with regularity. To-night’s meeting will be one of the most important in the history of the club. 1
