Suitable weather for fishing lias at last arrived at Stewart Island and lately the boats have been busy every day (states the correspondent of the Southland News). The coast boats which are larger go round to the; western shore for two or three days, carrying block ice with them, and have been doing fairly well. Fishing av the island lias been causing some anxiety, as this is the third season that has been extremely poor. In fact v.ery little fuelling has been done since the season started in February. 1 Even when weather has been suitable the enormous quantity of minute fish in endless variety on which the blue cod gorge themselves, prevent their being tempted with ordinary 1 aft-. This is an incursion of recent years only, and it should be of interest to ascertain the cause of its arrival in our waters.
