MILLIONAIRE OF A MEAN STREET
DEATH OF SHEFFIELD'S RICHEST AIAN. SHEFFIELD, March 24. Mr. W. F. Tibbitts, who was reputed to tie a millionaire, but who Jived in a mean street, in Sheffield in a district surrounded by back-to-back houses, and let off 'part of his house as a doctor’s surgery, died in a Sheffield nursing home at the age of bt>. He was believed to be the richest man in Sheffield. He held controlling interests in many important industrial concerns, and was one of the largest owners of house property in the city. He was a solicitor by profession. Mr. Tibbitts had travelled extensively and knew every pass in t he- Swiss mountains, but lie gave up Continental travel because lie thought hotel charges bad become too high.
A recent cable message stated that Air Tibbitts, who lived in the town because he could not afford tram fares, had left his estate of over £11,000,000 to his niece.
