Tho toll of the storm is one death, four persons injured and 500,000 dollars' loss of shipping, involving the wrecking of a dozen sailing craft and several small steamers.

Land traffic was paralysed and telegraphic and telephone communication interrupted in three maritime 'provinces of Canada. The blizzard swept the Atlantic seaboard for 24 hours.
