INDIAN COMMUNISTS’ ATTACK
REVOLT IN JAVA
THE HAGUE, Nov. 18
Dispatches from Batavia report that Indian Communists iu West Java have revolted from the Dutch Government at several points. > The telegraphic office at Batavia has been occupied by anued Communists, who also attacked the barracks and the State prison, but wore beaten off by the police and the military. Many havd been killed and hundreds arrested.
The railways have been torn up at Batavia and Bandeong. The Communists have killed hundreds of natives, but all the Europeans have sought refugo in the barracks. Later advices state that the Government now controls the situation in Java.
Mere than 500 prisoners have been captured. The military re-took the telegraph office at. Batavia after firing numerous volleys and doing considerable damage to surrounding buildings.
