CRICKET INTER-SCHOOL MATCH NAPIER WINS WELL

The Napier High School eleven defeated the Gisborne High School team in the annual inter-collegiate match, concluded to-day. The visitors’ bowling played havoc with the home side’s batting in the second innings, and Gisborne added only 92 to the first-innings score of 112. Von Stunner and Parkinson were the strength of Napier's attack, the first taking four wickets for 40 Wins, and Parkinson three for 8.

Napier had gained a lead of 24 runs on the first innings, and required only 69 to win the match. Von Stunner and Ivuru opened for the visitors, and between them contributed 48 to the required total. Chadwick came in first down, and carried the score along brightly, until Dow got him to put up a catch for Martin. Two more wickets fell, with the score mounting steadily, and at the luncheon adjournment the visitors had eclipsed the Gisborne sec-ond-innings total by 34. Owing to wet weather, the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club’s sports meeting, at which Gisborne competitors are engaged, lias been postponed until Monday evening. The Gisborne ladies’ relay team, which will run against a Wellington quartette for the Etenevutix Shield, showed plenty of puce in a trial against the watch yesterday. They have been very hospitably received by the Wellington ludios.
