TOLACrA BAY CLUE SUCCESSFUL OPENING (Special to the Herald.) TO LAG A P. AY, this day. If the spirit and enthusiasm which marked the opening day of the Tolaga Bay Bowling Club on Monday is an indication of the club's progress it will hot the most successful since the inception of the club. It was undoubtedly the most enjovable and successful opening day in the club's history. The occasion was marked by the large number of visitors, particularly from Gisborne who attended, and there were considerably over 200 persons present. During the afternoon Lockwood's orchestra rendered excellent music. The whole of the rinks were occupied during; the afternoon and some verv excellent play was seen during the day. Play 'commenced at 2 p.m. and at 3 p.m. an adjournment was called to officially open Ihe green. In declaring the frreen open, the president, Mr G. A. Neill, read congratulatory messages from kindred clubs and well-wishers, and extended a welcome to the visitors. He referred to the growth of the club, and also to the extension of other sports activities in the district, and said they were determined to make the grounds a real adjunct to Poverty Bay. It was hoped that the annual tournament at Christmas wouldl prove an unqualified success, and many net side competitors were expected. Representatives of other clubs extended congratulations to Tolaga Bay, and Mrs' Neill subsequently rolled the jack and declared the green open for the season.
