ROWING.
I’OYKKTY BAY CLUB A BUTTER OUTLOOK The Poverty Bay Bowing Club will hold its annual meeting this evening, at the club-house, and a good attendance of old and new members is expected. The report on the past year ’s activities is satisfactory, and the prospects of the club for the coming year are summed up as bright. In submitting the report the executive congratulates members on the satisfactory position of the club during the, last season. The financial question has, in every respect, n great influence! on the elub’s welfare, and although the past season has not been very successful in the matter of raising finances the forthcoming season shows great; promise of more satisfactory conditions regarding the matter. The thanks of the club are due to the following who forwarded donations: Dr. Gunn, Messrs. T. Morrison, 11. J. Edwards and .Remnant; also to the following who donated trophies, Messrs \Y. R. Clarkson. W. V. Piesse, M. .T. Kyne, A. McConnell, Troughton Clarke and Do Luxe Motor Service. The club plant, is in good order and condition and will be supplemented by a new representative four oar which will lie to hand early in the season. The committee trusts that the members during the coming season will take an active interest in the care of the elub’s plant, and material. The club house is in good order and condition. The members are requested to note that, the landing wants attention and the committee suggests a strong working committee be appointed to place same in order. During the season an attempt was made to swell the club's finances by running a series of dances, but owing to the lack of support by members themselves the club was forced to abandon the enterprise. A small amount, of rceenue was received from the hull having been hired for various purposes. The club races held during the season were very keenly contested and resulted in some very close finishes, and although the entries were small a keen spirit prevailed. A visit was made to the sister club at Wairoa during the Christmas holidays, when a good day’s vowing took place. Later on the Wairoa Club paid a return visit. Although the eluli did well in the shield rowing, by retaining the Colley and Co. :uid Neill Shields, it was not up 1o the usual standard of representatives. Wairoa were successful in winning the b.Y.A. four-oar shield and we take much pleasure in congratulating them on their win. Your committee recommends that the subscription for the incoming season lie the same as last year, dls for old members and B7s tid tor new members. : Thunks are expressed to Messrs A. McConnell and D. G. Mcn/ies, selectors, and A. McConnell, handicapper and starter, and coach to the representative crews; to Air. A. Kirk for valuable services to the dub and the um> of lorrv; and to the press for the manner in which they treated the dull.
