N.Z. RAILWAYS
PRAISE FROM VISITOR REASONABLE FARES (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Air A. 11. Darker, an expert engineer, who has repeatedly toured the world inspecting railway systems, has a word of praise for New Zealand lines. He considers that New Zealand has provided good railways and rolling stock when one takes into consideration all; the difficulties encountered in construction and maintenance. When the new railway shops are built the Government will be in a still better position to progress. Air. Darker travelled from Auckland in th<' new sleeping car designed by Air. Lynde, chief mechanical engineer, which he considered reflects great credit on the department. It ran very smoothly, and compares well with any part of the world. Tho fares, too, are reasonable.
