PRICE FIXATION
LEGISLATION SUGGESTED PRIZE SCHEMES CONDEMNED (Per Pres 3 Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Auckland Industrial Association discussed a letter from the Alaster Grocers’ Association urging legislation to abolish coupons and prize schemes, which encouraged the pttolic to believe that they were getting something for nothing, and encouraged the essence of gambling; and also the need for price fixation and maintainance by manufacturers ancl wholesalers -agreeing to have goods supplied conditionally upon minimum prices being observed. The association, agreed to send a representative to a meeting arranged by the Master Grocers’ Association to discuss the subject, and rosolved that a remit bo forwarded to the Dominion Conference that, in order to encourage trading with in the Empire, income tax regulations be amended to provide a differential scheme of taxation based on- the per. Gent-age of British and foreign goods used in trading. The association discussed a programme to make an industrial display by means of a train visiting different centres of the North .Island- The secretary said it was considered that the proposal could be carried out if they got a vote of £IOOO from the Government. Action was deferred. ,
