RUGBY ADMINISTRATION

POVERTY HAY UNION MEETS The management committee of the Poverty Hay Rughv Union met last t veiling, there being a fair attendance of delegates. Mr. G. J. Joune, deputycliairman of the Union, presided, in I lie absence of the chairman. The use of (lie Oval was granted for a mercantile staffs' match on Thursday, and a suggestion was made that the teams charge a small admission fee, and donate the proceeds to St. John Ambulance. The notification from the Hawke's Hav Union, to the effect that it would be unable to send a team to Gisborne this season, caused disappointed comment, and the letter was held over until the return of ilie chairman, who had had Iho preliminary arrangements for the visit in hand. The Hawke's Bay Union suggested that the Poverty Hay junior reps, should visit Napier on .September 25, to play the Hawke’s Bay juniors. The Motu Sub-Union intimated that it would be prepared to meet the Poverty Bay team for the Black and White Shield on Saturday, September JS, at Motu. The date was accepted by the Union, is being pointed out that this engagement would concern the junior representatives, and that thernfore it would he difficult to conduct the knock-out competition suggested as a wind-up to the junior club fixtures, ns it will leave only one free Saturday during the month. It was reported to the Union that Rovers juniors desired to play another round of the junior championship, but this was equally impracticable. Members regretted that time would not allow of the holding of ilie knock-out competition.
