NEW YORK STRIKE.
TRAFFIC CONGESTED. SERVICES. MAINTAINED. (Australian and N.Z Cable Association.! ffteuter’s Telegram.) NEW YORK July 6. The New York subway motor men and switchmen are on strike. Bain, which always drives thousands of New Yorkers underground, on Tuesday added to the transportation problem of the metropolis, which is in the throes of a strike affecting the principal subway system. Reports at noon showed' that a curtailed service was being maintained by strike-breakers, but the augmented l service on the elevated and surface lines and by busses failed to prevent congestion, especially during the morning rush. hour.
