The Wairoa Harbor Hoard met on Tuesday. afternoon. Present: Messrs. P. fl. Bummerfield {chairman}, T. Browne, K. B. Crombie, F. L. Joblm, J. Al. Taylor, J. C'orkill and A. T. Carroll. Tlie chairman’s annual report and the balance-sheet were adopted, and the latter was ordered to be printed.

Mr. G. E. Jane and others wrote ottering £lO pl'f annum for a five years’ lease of Urn Whakamahia reserve of 133 acres, and agreeing to keep down all noxious weeds, and to plant a portion in flax.—The clerk pointed out that it- was imperative that public lands be let by tender, and it., was decided to invite same.

Alf. T. Browne took exception to l-lm Board keeping a ear for tlie use of the secretary and chairman, adding that if the chairman wanted ty use a ear be should pay for it out- of his honorarium. —Several members defended the use of the car as a paying proposition, though a new one was needed.

The Hawke's Hay Tanners’ Co-operative Association supplied particulars uf an Oldsmobile, which, with the allowance for the old car, would make,the cost of the new one to the Board £215.—0n a division it was decided, by four votes to two, to accept the offer.—ln future a record is to be kept of the work done by the car.

The Harbors’ Association forwarded a motion passed at the conference in favor of a complete survey being made of the coast of New Zealand. —To he supported. The Waikokopu wharfinger reported that the present goods shed was not large enough to cope with the amount of cargo coining to the port. —The ehainnan was authorised lu confer with the Public Works Department on the question of enlarging the shed. Richardson and Co. advised that a regular service twice weekly had now been established with Waikokopu, and freights had bcl'ii reduced from 50s to 22s per ton till the Wairoa har was open. The Public Works Department advised that steps were being taken to provide a water supply at the port of- Waikokopu. The Lands and Survey 'Department informed the‘Board that le Tuki Whnanga had no interest in the Waikokopu block, and ho had been called on to repair llie damage done to the fence.
