NEGLIGEACE AND FAILURE TO GIVE HELP ALLEGED.
(l’er Press Association.) TIMARU, last, night. George W. Broehut, cycle dealer, appeared before the Magistrate's Court today charged that being the driver of a motor-car he became involved in a accident causing injury, and failed to render all practical assistance and report the accident to the nearest police stationHe was also charged that, at Waitawa on .March 20 he negligently drove a. car along Pleasant Point road, thereby causing bodily harm to Douglas Christie. Christie is a young man and was returning homo from a bicycle race in which he had participated, when he and two companions were knocked off their bicycles through a car colliding with them- Christie was so badly hurt that lie lias been in hospital ever since, and it was found necessary, to amputate his right leg Lengthy police evidence was heard, after which the accused, who pleaded not guilty, was euinniittcd to the Supreme Couii for trial. Rail was allowed in £IOOO.
