The present dry weather lias resulted in the demand for sheep falling off considerably, and this was evidenced at the weekly sale held at the Matawhero yards to-day by the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers 1 ' Association. There was a good attendance of the public, which included few buyers, and competition was poor. Ridding was slow, and almost all the lines were passed in. There whs a largo yarding of 63 fat cattle, good bullocks bringing £lO ss, light bullocks (p) £7 7s 6d, £8 and £8 17s 6d, cows (station lines) £6 10s and £7, heifers £5 and £5 ss. In the fat sheep there was a yarding of 117, mostly ewes, but there was no competition. , Good ewes, shorn, were passed in at 18s and 19s, mixed sexes 23s Id. 2-tooth wethers 25s 6d, woolly ewes 255, light ewes 16s lOd. Only a small yarding of 28 pigs was offered, good slips making 265, small<do. 14s, good stores 35s Gel, light do. 22s to 30s, porkers 40s, 44s and 455. Thefe'was also a small yarding of 379 store sheep. M.s. hoggets brought 20s and 24s 6d, 2-tooth ewes, sum'll, 14s sd, 2-tooth wothn 's 19s and 19s lid. f. and f. ewes, woolly, 18s, shorn ewes with lambs. 26s 3d, km ewes, shorn, 15s.
