DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
(Per Press Assoeiaimu NELSON, last night. Impoitant developments in connection with oil deposits in the -Murchison district are likely to take place shortly and the, fields to be thoroughly tested. Some months ago, -Mr J. Spencer, an expert, formerly with the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, made an exhaustive, survey of Hie Murchison district, and it is understood his report on the possibilities of oil being found' in payable quantities arc of the most favorable nature. At a sitting of the warden’s court at -Murchison on Monday, on the application of Mr Kemnitz, prospecting warrants were recommended to D. A. Oxuam (one) and J. Bassett (two) over a-u nr£a of 20,000 acres in the Tutaki and Matiri districts. The warrants are for prospecting for oil, petroleum and natural gases, It is understood an Auckland syndicate has been formed to thoroughly try out the field.
