Lord Aliening at the Residency, in the presence of the principal officials, presented March, the late Sirdar’s chauffeur, with a. silver medal and Order of the Empire, also a. cheque, for five thousand Egyptian pounds. Lord Alleuby paid tribute to March’s remarkable, coolness and courage at the moment of attack. He almost succeeded in saving the Sirdar’s life.
