Maurice Touruour s love for ihe pic (uresque, the thrilling and the unusiia; is again given fuil sway in his screen production of "Torment, ' the First National picture) heading the new programme at I'lverybody's matinee to-morrow. It is the most vivid, fascinating film lis has yet contributed to the silent, drama. Bessie Love, as the sweet and simple heroine, has the loading feminine role, with that capable actor. Owen Moore, giving, a strong characterisation opposite \\rv. Jean Hersclioil is to he seen in a similar role 10 thai of his "Servant In ih« House." while important par's arc taken by Mamie George, George Cooper, Morgan Wallace and Otto Ledeier. Willi this well-chosen cast to aid him nnd his story Tonrneur has achieved a splendid result. The supporting pictures are ail first class, and include two two-reel comedies, "Roll Along" (Christie) and "Tha Covered Schooner." "Loaves from a Ranger's Notebook," travel scenic, "The Robin" (educational nature study) and English and Pafhe Gazettes. PALACE THEATRE.
The big and delightful programme now showing at the Palace Theatre will be finally shown to-night. The two headiinci's are "The Fighting Coward." starring Ernest Torrance, and a superb Paramount east, and "The White Shadow,'' with popular Betty Compson in the stellar role. They are packed with exquisite entertainment. An excellent supporting programme is added. To-morrow, ' commencing at the matinee, another magnificent double feature bill- wili be shown, when the VVm. Fox special attraction, "The Governor's Lady," with Robert T. Haines at the head of a large cast of notable players, will bo one of the star attractions. The other, "The Face Between," starring Bert Lylell, is another superb dramatic romance. The cast is one of the finest, and includes Sylvia Breamer, Hardie Kirkland, and a host of other popular players. The supporting programme is one of laughter and variety. The latest laughing Sunshine comedy success, "The Weakling": the Fox News, and the World Gazette are some of the supports. "The Governor's Lady" has a plot based on lifev as it is, with humor, pathos, and action. "The Face Between" is the story of a man's sacrifice, where the path of honor led to happiness, a big heart-appealing drama of lost illusions and regained desires. Bert Lytell has never done anything to equal his powerful performance in this majestic drama. The matinee to-morrow starts at 2.
