FORMANCE

The adaptability of the Rugby car for New Zealand louring conditions was ably demonstrated this week, when Mr. W. J. Scholium, of the firm of Messrs. J., R. Redstone and Sons, arrived overland from Auckland at, 2 a.m. to-day after a splendid ruii., Mr. Scholium left Auckland at 4.30 p.m. on Sunday and proceeded as far as Morrii t \iile. where he stayed the night. He- left Morrinsvillei at 8.30 yesterday morning in heavy rain, and took the road via Mntamala and over the Kaimai ranges to Tauranga, thence to Oisborne via the Bay of Plenty townships and Motu. The road from Wbakatanc to Gisboine was the best portion of the journey. The trip was completed without, a hitch, and'Mr. Scholium had no occasion to lift the bonnet once all the wav from Auckland. The Motu-Opotiki road was.in splendid order, and here the Rugby demonstrated id; wonderful climbing" ability oil top gear. Although the journey was made with an empty car, tile. riding' was most comfortable, thanks to tlio special manner in which the car is sprung. On the run from Morrinsville to Tauranga yesterday morning, Mr. Scholium found the road over the Kaimai rangas very rough.
