A FARMER’S DEATH.

WAIPUKURAU, this day. An inquest- was held concerning the death of William Goodwin, a well-known farmer, who died yesterday morning as the result of carbolic acid poisoning. The Coroner returned an, open verdict. The evidence showed that deceased complained of sleeplessness due to influenza. He had finarr ial worries, with farm interests. He made q will on Wednesday. He bought some pure carbolic acid on Wednesday, saying it vfas for foot- rot in sheep, but lief told the family it was for treating ring worm in calves. He left a note at tlie house on Thursday morning paying, "Gone to the rend gate/’ where he was subsequently found unconscious.
