PROTECTING CONSUMERS

Lloyd Greame, answering a question as to whether the contemplated steps to protect consumers against an attempt, at exploitation by tho cold storage fusion and as to whether he would fulfil his promise to introduce legislation dealing with trusts and combines, said he had no reason to suppose the contemplated consolidation would be of disadvantage, to the consumer. The Government did not consider- it necessary or desirable to introduce general legislation 'in the present critical state of trade.
