LONDON, July 10
The Great Western express, inaugurating an accelerated service, travelled from Swindon to Paddington, 77i miles, in 72 minutes.
Tho train attained a speed of 83 miles per hour between Swindon and Didcot, a record for the British Isles, and probably for the world.
