An Austrian eomtnunique states : — After a respite of three days the Russian offensive m Bessarabia, was renewed with the arrival of reinforcements. After a night-long bombardment, the Russian infantry attacked at dawn, advancing m swarms. Fighting for the first-line trenches lasted till lato m the afternoon. The Russians penetrated portions of the trenches. Bitter hand-to-hand encounters took place, and tlie Russians were dislodged.
