SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
• There was a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Poverty Bay Scottish Society, held m the Scottish hall, last night. Mr T. Corson (vicepresident) made feeling reference to tne loss that, the society had sustained through the death of Chaplain-Major Grant A vote of condolence waß carried 'and that the secretary convey to Mrs Grant and family the sympathy of the members with them m their bereavement. The motion was carried unanimously, all the members present rising As the programme for the evening was m the capable hands ..f the Ladies' Committee, Mr Corson called on Mr^D. Blair to take the chair. The following items were given :— Viano selection, Mrs Leslie; part song, *1 c Banks and Braes," ladies; song, Miss Hale; Scotch dance, Miss Dons Mackenzie; recitation. Miss Steen, part song, "Oh, hush thee, my Maby, ladies; song, "Our Little Grey Home m the West" Miss Park; Scotch datme, Miss Helen Minnes; song, "Rothsay Bay," Mrs Scott; recitation, Mids Ryder; song, Mrs Brook; part song, "Waes me for Prince Charlie," ladies; song, Miss McLeod; humorous dialogue, Mrs Park and Mrs Howard. The programme proved one of the most enjoyable of the year. The ladies earned out the arrangements m a capable manner that ensured success. After the conclusion of the programme an excellent supper, provided by the ladies, was partaken of, and nuich enjoyed by all. -
