In fact, the result excor >1 the expectations of the promoters, a I the display was considered well woni repeating m a larger hall. Judging I y the clever manner m which the part? were enacted, together with the general 'production of the mythological scene, the performers must have spent much time and thought m preparing for the occasion, and they have the satisfaction of knbwing that their efforts were \ crowned with success. The scene was a picturesque one. The stage properties depicting ancient Grecian architecture were arranged by Mr J. Walter Bull, and they served to make the tableaux more Tealistic. ISo pains were spared m regard to the costuming, and Mrs F. Everiss gave valuable assistance m arranging the novel and pretty toilets of the various "graces" and "spirits." Credit is also due to Mrs C. J. East, leader of the Girls' League, for the capable manner m which she' organised the performance. When introducing the tableaux the Chairman explained that each day the Three Graces met on the mountain and counselled as to how they would favorably influence the affairs of the world. On the particular occasion m question the Three Graces called upon all the immortal spirits to decide which among them was the most loved by and beneficial to mankind. As each spirit, heralded to the nymphs, came forward and stated their to seniority, some fine effects were obtained. Finally the Spirit- of Humble Service was awarded the wreath of laurels.
