CREEK NATIONAL FUND.
SUBSCRIPTIONS TO BE RETURNED
In response to an enquiry as to the genuineness of the canvassing that recently carried out m this district on behalf off the ' 'Greek National Fund," the Town Clerk to-day received a communication from Mr F. Dyer, viceConsul for Greece, at Wellington, m the course of . which he states :
"As to your enquiry as to the genuineness of the HeUemsinos Society, I learn from. Greeks here that there is such a Society, and that it publishes a newspaper, which a number of them subscribe to, but I have no information whatever that Jno. Zavitchanos 'is ■ the accredited representative of this Society, and .this being so I would not recognise him ' whatever m my capacity as viceConsul. With regard to the subscriptions that have been received, some £9 ss, I think I would recommend that this money .' should be returned to the subscribers.'' : .
