SYDNEY, June 14.
At the inquest on the body of Speed, riot Stsed, Clinton gave evidence that the d ceased ordered/ him to clean the mud off Ids boots. He refused. Speed' then ai«d him to have a drink. He replied tliat he would not after the insults received. The shooting followed;
The publican at whose premises Speed stayed, deposed that since May 28, Speed had spent the greater part of a cheque for £109, drawing sometimes £30 a day.- His effects included a passage thkot to England by a steamer ' which sailed on Saturday.
A verdict of suicide was returned. ' i '
A previous message stated : — Speed, the hotel employee, who wounded a man nnmed Clinton m a hotel bar, and then f -'tally shot himself, has been identifiedby finger-prints as Henry Tardoff , who i*i 1909 was sentenced m Sydney to three months' imprisonment for theft.
