. "CHEEK AND INSULTS." (Special to Herald.) AUCKLAND, tliis day. At the: Waihi Bororigh Council meeting on Thursday evening a letter was received from Mr GA N. Jopes (secretary of the Waihi strike committee), under date May 20th> advising the Council that the following resolution had been carried unanimously at a mass meeting, "that the Borough Council be asked tb dispense Avith the services of the Town Clerk and Engineer, as there Avas practically nothing fpr them to do noAV." Councillor Saunders said he strongly objected to a letter .of this kind being received. The best course was, to send it back. He hoped the Council did nob require outside inter-, ference. For cheek and insults commend him bo some of the leaders <of bhe present indrisbrial dispute .
