. «• '•'-'-"' (Special to Herald.) ,WELLING : TON, tliis day. • The satisfactory position m Gisborne with regard 'to all kinds of skilled labor during the last fe\v months continues, according , tb the Labor Department. 'There has been, an unusual demand for this class of labor m nearly all' branches of the building tr^de. Bricklaying, car-, pentering and joinery, painting, ing, plumbing, arid gasfitting are all busy. Hahds are wanted iii nearly 'all departments, and , a considerable amount of work is being delayed through . thescarcity of labor. 'Tanning, currying and fellmongering, and slaughtering, freezing and preserving are busy. The recenb spell of dry aveather has kept the Avorks very busy Avith the stock coming' in, 'and there is at present every prospect of operations proceeding until well into June.. The season itself will be an exceedingly good' one, as the amount of business, done already considerably exceeds last year's total output. The co-operative laborers employed on the Taui-ango-Motu railway Avorks number 424, while 99 are engaged on the Nanier-Gisborne sections. ■•'•
