THE BESSES o' TH' BARN.
The visit of this wonderful organisation may be regarded as a unique event m the annals of the colony. No visiting musical or theatrical attraction has ever spread such widespread enthusiasm as the Besses 0' th' Barn Band. The receptions ac corded them throughout New Zealand have been unprecedented, and local musiclovers will realise their fond hopes by hearing some half-dozen programmes during tlieir brief season here, which commences on Wednesday evening next, at His Majesty's Theatre. The plans for reserved seats have already assumed large proportions; and intending patrons would do well to book their seats, as record attendances are expected to hear these famous Lancastrians. To Mr Alexander. Owen, the celebrated conductor and composer, much of the credit of the long list of successes of the .Besses is due, for he has been associated with the band for 25 years. Mr J. Henry Isles, the general manager of the band, .Occupies a promt-' nc.it position m England, and has been designated "The Napoleon of the Band World," having directed the leading band festivals nf Great Britain, and m eight years he lias raised £25,000 for charities by his organisation of festivals and concerts."
