PARLIAMENTARY NOTES.
(Herald Special Reporter.) Wellington, to-day. So far aa one can read the political barometer the session promises to be a bitter one, and Kir Maurice O'Rorke's firm ruling will require to be displayed in order to avert scenes in the House. There appears to be an impression in Wellington that the session will be very I brief, and that members will be quickly sent to the right about, but I disseut from that view, and anticipate that we shall be here the accustomed fourteen weeks. The position of chief of the Hansard staff, rendered vacant by Mr Barron's retirement, is now narrowed down to Messrs Grattan Grey and Spragg, aud on the ground of seniority of servico tho appoiutment will probably be conferred on the former. It is not intended to fill up the position of Parliamentary reader formerly held by Mr Bracken. I learn that Mr Marcus Marks, who has been selected as sub-editor of the Hansard publication, will also act as Parliamentary reader.
Tho Hon. Mr Arkwright moves tho Address-in-Reply in the Council and Mr McGowan in the House.
All the Ministers are now here except Mr Ward, who is expected on Tuesday.
